Course Description

Natural Hairstyling is the study of the practice & skills of a Braid Technician. It requires the completion of 300-400 hours of training to be eligible to sit for the New York State Education Department, Natural Hairstyling State Board License Exam. This training will be beneficial for students who are looking to empower themselves with marketable skills (entry level) in the recently recognized natural hair care industry. Job placement assistance is available for those who qualify. Natural Hair Styling includes hair analysis, traditional braiding techniques, locking, weaving, basic styling techniques, grooming and maintenance as well as sanitation, sterilization and health regulations. The infusion of the use of Natural Hair & Scalp Products are also discussed in this course.
