Course Description

Includes training for the installation, maintenance and repair of gas and oil fired boilers. “Near boiler piping” designs are implemented along with radiant heating and hot water heater installation is. Basic wiring of steam and hot water controls is covered including thermostats, pressure controls, aquastats and zone controls. Though not a pre-requisite, it is recommended to students following a year of instruction in plumbing. A fundamental knowledge of electrical theory and wiring is also helpful but not mandatory. This course ranks highly among the specialties involved in the MTA’s `Express to Success’ program.
