Course Description
Electrical Installation and Practice – A comprehensive course which will prepare students for an entry level position in the electrical field. This class will prepare the student to become an Electrician’s Helper or skilled Apprentice Electrician. The course stresses the fundamentals of basic electrical theory and hands-on experience as it relates to residential wiring including Ohms Law calculations and code approved electrical wiring methods including Armored Cable, Non-metallic sheathed cable [Romex], Electrical Metallic Tubing [E.M..], Rigid Conduit, Wiremold and Blue Print Reading. All applications are taught according to standard National Electrical Code [N.E.C.] requirements.. No prior knowledge or technical skills are required for enrollment in the course. Always in great demand by electrical contractors, electrical installers may pursue the New York State electrician’s license. This course is included among the specialties involved in the MTA’s `Express to Success’ program.
