The revolution in IT (information technology) has been due in large part to the vastly improved data communications capabilities as witnessed by the instantaneous impact the Internet has had on commerce and society. One company, Cisco Systems, has emerged as the dominant vendor for networking equipment and their training programs and criteria for certification have been accepted as the industry standard by most, if not all, corporate human resource managers. Consequently, students who successfully complete the Cisco Network Associate program and receive certification have immediate employment waiting at salaries of $50,000 per year and up. The curriculum includes the nature and technology of networking, network design and wiring, programming and configuration of the equipment. Candidates should have prior computer maintenance and repair knowledge and experience before attempting this course.
The CISCO course is completed in one year. The IT Essentials course is a semester course .
